Lakewood Ranch Eye Surgery

Lakewood Ranch Eye Surgery

Are you looking for a Lakewood Ranch eye surgery clinic? Coastal Eye is one of the largest practices around, offering fellowship-trained eye doctors in every sub-specialty of eye care patients could want. From infants to patients in the golden years, Coastal Eye provides care for the total heal of your eyes.

The Lakewood Ranch Institute provides many types of eye surgery options, for a wide range of vision issues, including:

- Cataract Surgery. Coastal Eye provides traditional cataract surgery and Laser Refractive Cataract surgery. Cataracts are a normal part of the aging process and the leading cause of vision loss in adults over 55. Cataract surgery is one of the safest and most effective surgical procedures. You may be surprised to learn that more than 3 million cataract surgeries are successfully performed in the US annually, making it the most commonly performed surgery in the United States!

- Lasik surgery can help those with poor vision that is due to nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism. To determine whether a patient is a candidate for refractive surgery, Board-certified and fellowship-trained refractive specialist, Robert Sambursky, M.D., conducts an in-depth exam to determine the degree of refractive error, cornea shape, pupil size and the general health of the eyes.

If a patient is a candidate for Lasik, the doctor will conduct surgical planning and select either Wavefront-guided or conventional Lasik, depending on which technique better suits the patient’s refractive needs.

- The Lakewood Ranch Institute performs cornea Transplants and other corneal eye surgery options. There are many situations where a cornea transplant may become necessary, including scars from injuries or infections, keratoconus and Fuchs Dystrophy, just to name a few of the most common reasons.

At Coastal Eye, Dr. Davis and Dr. Friedberg are Cornea fellowship-trained in performing the latest in cornea transplant techniques. Each surgery is performed on an outpatient basis, allowing the patient to return home later on the same day as the surgery.

- Diabetic Retinopathy. Many of the complications of diabetic retinopathy can be reduced with laser treatments to the retina, an in-office procedure which stimulates the leaking vessels to stop leaking or encourages the abnormal blood vessels to stop growing. Laser treatment reduces the risk of vision loss by 50%, and is best performed before the vision is lost. Proper control of glucose, blood pressure and cholesterol also reduce the risk of vision loss from diabetic retinopathy by 50%.

In certain individuals where the diabetic retinopathy is advanced, a vitrectomy surgery may be indicated to remove the scar tissue, blood, or reattach the retina if it has been detached.

The Lakewood Ranch Eye Surgery Institute is happy to work with patients around their busy schedules. With nine physicians and four offices to better meet your needs, their staff is confident that they can schedule an appointment that will be convenient for you.

Call Coastal Eye at 941-748-1818 to make an appointment today, and meet with the specialist in eye care who can provide you with your treatment options.
